CF Modern Quilting Guild - Meeting notes for Feb. 16, 2015

Introduction of members for the new members: Daryl and Sally

Arlene volunteered to help with taking of the photos which Mary will post on the blog and facebook page.  Thanks.

Karen gave the treasurer report.

Discussion about how to use some of the money in the treasury.

  1. Set aside some of the money for the purchase of batting and fabric for charity projects.
  2. Use money for a magazine subscription: Modern Patchwork.  Lois volunteered to order the magazine.  Once Lois gets the magazine, she will bring it to the meeting and a member can take it home for a month and then bring back for another member to use for a month.  We choose Modern Patchwork because of the interesting projects in the magazine quilts, small projects and home dec. projects.

Next month discussion about how to share information from the national Modern Quilt Guild.    Currently Kathy and Sally are members.  It would be great to members share info from the website that is available to members only.  Looking forward to hearing about new ideas from the Modern Quilt Guild national website.
Sally is also attending QuiltCon in Austin and we are looking forward to hearing all about it at our next meeting.

Discussion about activities for meetings:

  • Member spotlight (couple of times per year)
  • Demos by members of techniques or projects
  • Kathy has offered to do a demo on making stones (May)
  • Lorelei also offered to do a demo on making a project roll.

  • Let us know if you have something you would like to demo for the group at the meeting.
