Show & Tell photos

Thank you for voting.   I see from the votes so far, that you would like to see the Show & Tell photos on both our Blog and on Facebook.

In order to avoid duplication, I found a way to link our Facebook show & tell photos to our blog.   See our May minutes (at the bottom of the minutes) where I added a link to the Facebook photos.

I hope this meets everyone's needs.

Happy Stitching.   Mary

CFMQG Meeting minutes for May 21, 2012

Donna Lockwood called the meeting to order at 10:00 A.M.

Old Business:
  • Bylaws: Donna reported the draft bylaws presented at the April meeting had been shared with membership, and she had received no comments or suggestions for changes. She does intend to add some language about seeking nonprofit status. Stipulating that addition, the members present voted to accept the bylaws.
  • Round Robin Projects: Project bags were exchanged for one final round. Next month our projects will be unveiled and returned to their originators. We should have some exciting ‘show and tell’ next time. Sara Devens urged participants to deliver their projects to Sew Happins before the June meeting (Monday, June 18th) if for any reason you cannot be there. Your commitment – and some invisible hands behind the scenes making good for a couple of Round Robin ‘dropouts’ – have made this a fun and successful activity. Let’s all bring it home in style!! And start to imagine what you would like our next guild activity to be.
New Business:
  • Nominating committee: Sue Foss and Elaine West have volunteered to serve as the nominating committee to elect our first slate of officers. Donna Bergman has already helped out by volunteering to become our Secretary next year. Her sister, Mary Harned, has volunteered to manage our Guild’s blog. Thanks so much for your support ladies!
  • Program: Donna Lockwood did all the research and Penny Schmitt served as narrator for a wide-ranging and fascinating look at some blogs devoted to various aspects of Modern Quilting. A list of sites that you might enjoy will be posted on our blog as soon as Donna Lockwood adds updates. Just gazing at the many available slide shows of beautiful and genuinely outside the box designs and quilts could keep you happy for hours! Once we got started, other suggestions for good sites came up. Chris Balchunas introduced us to Exuberant Color and other blogs.
  • Trip idea: In the course of our blog discussion, we discovered that a show and possible classes will be available showing the work of the ‘Exuberant Color’ quilter—the show is at the Ciel Gallery at 128 E. Park Avenue in Charlotte starting on June first. Chris has promised to email the store and learn more about this show and associated events. If anything develops about a road trip to the show, we’ll announce it on the blog site.
  • Show and tell: Photos for this month’s show and tell are posted on our Facebook page. We were glad to be introduced to some truly modern appearing quilts, great ways with t-shirts and ties, Sponge Bob in a starring role, and Penny Schmitt showing her project off upside down.
Respectfully submitted
Penny Schmitt, interim Secretary

We have a New Modern Quilt Guild Blog !!!

Hello CFMQG members.    We have a new blog!  Apparently we had 2 blogs previously and we decided it was easier to delete them and start fresh.

I am fairly new to blogging so please be patient with me.   I do have some mad technical skills as I recently retired from 33 years at IBM.   Hopefully, I will come up to speed fast.

Background image of our blog:  Some of you may recognize pieces of your quilts in the background I created for our blog.  I used the photos from our May Show & Tell and thru the magic of Photoshop I created this background.   I hope you like it.   I may switch it out with new collages from future Show & Tells to keep things fresh.

Tips:
* On the right side of the blog, you will see that you can follow this blog via email and receive notifications on updates (at least I think that is how it works).
* I will put a link to our blog on our Facebook page.  You may also want to bookmark our blog at http://cfmqg.blogspot.com/

Suggestions for the blog are always welcome and you can email me regarding the blog at cfmq.guild@gmail.com

Happy Stitching.
