Cape Fear Modern Quilting Guild - Minutes from Sept. 16, 2013 Meeting

Welcome back from our summer break.  Great to see everyone again and catch up and see all your quilted projects.

1 - Name change:  The Board met last week to discuss the name change and affiliation with the national organization.  The national organization has decided to collect dues based on individual guild membership.  For our small guild to join, it would cost individuals about $40 per year.  An individual membership is $25.   No magazine comes with the membership.  Access to the national guild’s website and discounts to their convention.  So the board decided to change our name since we couldn’t keep the “modern quilt guild” name and changed the name to “Cape Fear Modern Quilting Guild”.  Our membership fees will stay at $5. and we will use some of the dues to give the current president an Individual Membership to the National Guild.  If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to Kathy.

2. Board Members:  We were not very successful rounding up a nominating committee, but our current Officers have graciously agreed to hold office for another year 9/13 - 9/14.   We will start looking for a new Officers in the Spring of 2014.

3. Treasurer’s report:  Karen collected dues and updated the guild roster.   We will email the roster to paid members so they will have updated email address, home address, and phone numbers of the members.

4 - Programs for the year: we are excited about doing some charity quilt projects this year.  Our first “sit and sew” to make a charity quilt will be at our November meeting.  Lorelei will have information about this charity project at the October meeting.
