CFMGQ October 15th - Meeting Minutes

1.  Kathy Lyman called the meeting to order.
2.  Welcome to everyone.
3.  Everyone BRIEFLY introduced themselves.  No guests or members attended this meeting.
recognized.
4.  Reminded everyone to wear name tags or make your own.  No discussion regarding having "fines" for "NO Personal name tag" wearing to begin in January.
5.  Reviewed Minutes and Treasurers report for September.
6.  Discussed membership dues again.  Reminded that everyone has to pay $5 for year long membership (runs September - September).  Cash only (we do not have checking account yet).  Reminded everyone to verify address, phone number and email addresses.  Announced that members' in good standing get reminders for upcoming meetings and can participate in block and other guild projects.
7.  Reviewed progress on Guild Wall-Hanging.  It is looking beautiful.  One word is left to quilt then the binding and sleeve attachment are to be completed.  Discussion was held regarding the label as to whom worked on the quilt.  Kathy Lyman will do the label (embroidered) for the back of the quilt identifying who worked on the Wall-Hanging. We also had a discussion for the details of the meeting time and date:  this information will be attached across the bottom of the quilt and sewn on with loops and buttons attached to the bottom of the quilt.  Kathy Lyman will also embroider this information for attachment.
8.  Upcoming Program ideas for the year discussion:  Maggie Early - painting quilts,  a member takes a topic from a magazine or book, works the directions, and then does a presentation for the members, Bonnie Hunter - crumb quilter?
9.  Field trips discussion:  Spoonflower, Orange durham Quilt show and guild, other guild, quilt shop travels.  A committee needs to be formed regarding working together for filed trips or retreats.  Sherry Ward will do some beginning work on this task.  It would be best to form a working committee to work on this project.
10.  "Educational" Block show and tell:  17 individuals participated in the block show and tell - the results were interesting and very much fun.  Four more individuals signed up to begin the process and will show their blocks at the next meeting. The November education block will focus on Graphic Stripes and Angles - instructions were handed out.
11. November meeting will have a potholder exchange as well as the educational block challenge.
12.  December meeting will have the Christmas party with an ornament exchange.  Details to follow at the November meeting.
