There was a Group Discussion about projects, challenges and charity sew-in for the coming year.  Here is what the group decided:

  1. We will continue to meet throughout the summer (3rd Monday of the month)
  2. Summer challenge: using batik fabric that we swapped at the meeting, make a bag and bring to the September meeting. Use the fabric that you received in the swap - use any bag pattern and add extra fabric.  Can't wait to see the bags in September.
  3. Charity Sew-in for the fall (in October or November): theme will be fall colors (string piecing using scraps in fall colors).  More information later.
  4. Monthly Block to make a "Modern Calendar" quilt.  Choose your color scheme for your own quilt.  Each month make a block based on the monthly theme in your color scheme.  No restriction on block size - your blocks can be different sizes.  Have fun - try new techniques, experiment with color.   Here are the block themes for the next 7 months:

  • June - Beach/ Ocean
  • July - "America"
  • August - Picnic
  • Sept. - Back to school
  • Oct. - Fall
  • Nov. - Thanksgiving
