  1. Perhaps we should do and individual challenge next. One that will encourage playing with a small piece and that encourages playing with thread and texture. How about we all make a small themed quilt for The Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative™ (www.AlzQuilts.org).

See what the Austin group did => http://www.aaqg.org/html/challenges.htm

  2. wonky row-by-row challenge

Each month we would draw a motif from a container (house, star, nine-patch, person, words, etc.). All would choose their own size and work on their own quilt. Techniques could be shared, but not patterns. Rows could be vertical, horizontal or on the diagonal.

  3. Check out the Modern Quilt guild website.

Their block challenge is to make one block (12 1/2inches high and you decide the width). You also have to use colors from the QuiltCon.logo.

This would be a great way to try making a modern block. Looks like fun.

  4. Found another idea for a modern quilt swap:

Check out this modern quilt guild blog in New Jersey - they did a modern pin cushions swap but we could do a potholder swap. Everyone can use new potholders and we could make it a modern design.
