CFMQ Guild July 20, 2015 Meeting Notes

Modern Quilt Guild magazine and Modern Patchwork magazine:  In February we talked about how to use our money in the treasury.  We decided to use our money to get a magazine subscription to Modern Patchwork magazine.  Did a member volunteer to get the magazine?  Karen can reimburse you so that we have this magazine.
Also - does anyone have an individual membership to the National Modern Quilt Guild?

Show and Tell:  Round Robin - focus block

Challenge fabrics:

• Dianne gave 2.5" strips of yellow fabric to be added to first round of the Round Robin project
• Lois will bring (to our August meeting) 2.5" strips of a color for participants of the Round Robin project

Quilts for Nepal:  Dianne collected some additional quilts from member for Nepal.

Program:  Quilting Games
Participants worked in teams of 2 to play two different games:   Name that Quilt block and Word Jumble (quilted related words).  Fat quarter prizes for the winners.

What to Bring for the August 17 Meeting
Program:   Arlene will show us how to make Microwave Potholder bowls.
Microwave potholder bowls make great gifts and nest nicely and look really pretty in coordinating fabrics.

Supply list for Microwave Potholder Bowls

NOTE:  Important - fabric,batting and thread MUST be 100% cotton

Materials needed:
Sewing machine, marking pen, ruler, scissors.

Pre cut:
For 8 inch bowl

• Two 8" squares of coordinating fabric
• Two 8" squares of batting

For 10" bowl

• Two  10" squares of fabric
• Two  10" squares of batting

For 12" bowl

• Two 12" squares of fabric 
• Two 12" squares of batting
